Full Title...

"The runner who killed a mountain lion with his bare hands, and a few TWIGS: Jogger displays his injuries and tells how he stabbed the big cat with sticks, wrestled it off and put it in a chokehold with his feet"

The Colorado runner who survived a vicious mountain lion attack by wrestling the creature and suffocating it to death is finally speaking out on the life-threatening experience.

Travis Kauffman, 31, came forward on Thursday to share how his life flashed before his eyes and he went into fight or flight mode when a mountain lion crept up behind him as he was on a run.

The terrifying attack took place on February 4 in the mountains of Fort Collins, Colorado and Kauffman recalled suddenly hearing 'pine needles rustling' and realized a wild lion was sneaking up about 10 feet behind him.

'One of my worst fears was confirmed...I just had my heart sink into my stomach a little bit,' he said during a news conference held by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on Thursday.

The mountain lion attack made headlines earlier this month, but the man behind the attack remained a mystery until Thursday.

I wondered how he killed the cat. That’s some trick, to suffocate the cat by stepping on its neck while it has your wrist in its mouth. He seems to be quite an athlete.

Now that his name has been released I can almost guarantee that the eco-wackos will be calling his house making death threats.

Send this pic to Jussie.
Ask him; “Is this what you expected to look like after you paid that Nigerian guy to smack you in the chops?”
If at first you don’t succeed....

If he can’t/won’t carry a firearm, I hope he starts carrying a large, sharp knife from now on.

I’m ‘urban’ in a slave state, and never without some kind of blade and/or pepper spray.

He needs to be hired by the producers of “Vikings”, immediately.

Killing a animal over 50lbs. by hand is no small feat. Big cats are scary fast and pointy. With canis, you give a forearm, twist the dog to side, and crush the ribcage with body weight through the knee.

Anything big is good for 10 sutures per pound over 50lbs.

I have a friend in mountain lion country. He says even a pistol is of little use. You only know they are there when they are on you.

Your friend real does not know anything about MT. lions or firearms.

Research Mt. lion attacks and you well find that large percentage of victims see their attackers before they are attacked.

Handguns are routinely used to kill and stop much larger animals.

They are 97% effective against bears MT. lions are a lot smaller.

This is a BS story. I read N article last week that said a pathologist had examined the mountain lion and that it had died and had been partially consumed by other predators and that no attack against a human had happened. Yeh, take on a mountain lion with sticks.

I roll in cat country, they are always around. I often work alone, so my head is on a swivel. They won’t sneak up if they think you’re looking, unless they’re very desperate. If I have to bend down or work very low, I’m even more cautious. We had one guy get jumped on from behind a little while back with lots of other guys around.

One was bold. Huge tom, I’d guess over 200lbs, sat on top of a snow berm on the edge of the lease waiting for me to get some distance from my truck. That of course was the day after I’d cleaned my truck out and somehow my 45-70 didn’t make it back in. I was sure kicking myself then.

An 83 year old on Vancouver Island was attacked years back and managed to defend himself with a folding pocket knife, so it can be done. It’s mindset like this young man in the article. Screw you cat, I’m going to win.

For some unknown reason, I see your name (Bulwyf) as a variation of Beowulf. The Old English guys had many spellings.

Beowulf is a personal favorite of mine.
He ripped the monster Grendel’s arm clean off, with his bare hands! NB: the monster was ‘proof against iron’.

Anyways... I had a good laugh thinking of Beowulf vs monster Cougar.
Guessing that your moniker is NOT Beowulf.
