If you’ve ever seen the movie the 13th warrior, you’ll see why heh. The story of Beowulf is great too.

He has battle scars, no makeup required! :)

Herger The Joyous, who, after sitting and recalling my past dogs' names, turned out to be my 13th Doberman, gotten after my beloved Odin left for Valhalla.

/cue spooky music

With the exception of Ragnar and Ubbe, he’s a badder ass than anyone else on the show.

Heh, how spooky is the music?

What’s funny is everyone always thinks my dogs are dobermans without their ears cropped. They are in fact black and tan coonhounds. They bear no old names though, the kids helped name them.

I dunno...something by Wagner?

:)

I grew up playing with my grandaddy’s B&T, creatively named “Blackie”.

Loved that old dog.

Honestly, I don’t particularly like him.

He’s no Ragnar Lothbrok.

[but Ivar is the devil]

I really liked Ivar ... until he declared himself a god.
Then it was “I can’t wait to see you go down.”

Yeah, he was always evil (he’s a freaking Viking!) but
I admired how he pushed past his disability. Way past.

Oh, well! I guess you just can’t trust a psychopathic warrior. ;^P

Murdering his kid and his wife was a bit beyond the pale.

I’m hoping Floki comes back and just randomly goes batcrap on him, really.

:D

“Boneless” may have been a snide euphemism.

Killing his brother Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye wasn’t too nice either.

Those historical accounts and speculations about him were interesting. Thanks for the link. Whatever he really was he certainly wasn’t ordinary.

Snuffing the Seer was pretty bad, too.

I forgot about that.
Yep, I figured his karma was cooked when he did that.

I carry a crkt tactical, a glok and a buck... plus a leatherman and.., whatever. A 200lb. Cat hits me, I am dead.

Situational awareness is your only hope in such country. Being from Massachusetts, the most dangerous animal we will encounter is a whitetail buck, or a human.

I had jury duty, left the glok and crkt home... they almost died laughing when they scanned me. Found a old Congress I thought I lost years back. Batteries, can openers, nuts and bolts, 2 flashlights and a hand full of stainless nuts.

The guy said I was a walking carnival. Took one knife, it was just too long for Massachusetts.. 3” toy buck in my boot. Didn’t even know it was there. He let me keep the sheath.

I must have been drunk when I sewed that knife into that redwing. Did a good job, never even felt it there... for a year.

That’s quite hilarious.

Situational awareness is king. You can have it all, but that trumps it all.

I do get a bit angry though when I’m forced into situations and or areas that I know could be dangerous but others don’t heed the warnings. I could write a book about this heh.
