“It was a bad idea.”

I can see immediately that you are intimately familiar with the area. “It’s on Long Island”. Yes. On the East river directly across from the Manhattan skyline. “On Long Island”! “And the town it’s in would get revenue.” The “Town” that it’s in! That “Town” is called “Queens” a Borough of NYC! You have never even visited New York City, have you?

I checked the map. Across the river puts Queens geographically in the western part of Long Island. Traffic does not come and go from there without being part of metro NYC traffic. And Queens would get the facility, but other towns (and cities) would be impacted by the increased traffic, disruptions, and expenses associated with it. And where would the residents live? Metro NYC housing affordability is already a "10" (Kiplingers, March 2019). There's no where to build new houses, so employees would either commute long distances, or price even more people out of the housing market.

It's a lousy idea to put this headquarters in a congested urban area. That's why I mentioned something like Lordstown, OH. It's surrounded by large markets within a few hours, the highways are in place, thre's open space, and there are former manufacturing areas and even a nearby city, Youngstown, that are practically deserted.

Long Island isn't an island—SCOTUS

In 1985, all nine justices on the Supreme Court agreed. Long Island, that mass of land completely surrounded by water, is not an island. It's a peninsula.
