Trump forced to declare emergency because of congressional apathy, negligence and incompetence
Fox News ^ | February 16, 2019 | Hans A. von Spakovsky

Democrats are calling President Trump every name in the book and threatening multiple lawsuits to overturn his Friday declaration of a national emergency on our southern border.

The president is using the declaration to enable him to shift funds already in the federal budget to border security. The shifting of money from one set of priorities to the more urgent priority of border security will allow the president to spend over $8.1 billion to build barriers along part of our border with Mexico and fund other border security measures.

But listen to the angry denunciations of the president by outraged Democrats. You’d think he’s throwing out the Constitution, banishing every member of Congress to the wilderness, and proclaiming himself an all-powerful dictator for life – an American version of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

It should go without saying that President Trump is doing no such thing. In truth, the president is using his constitutional authority in the same way other presidents have, in order to find money to deal with an emergency.

And make no mistake, the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border is a real emergency – not a figment of Trump’s imagination.

Think of what the president is doing in terms of your family budget. You have money set aside to buy a new car. Then a member of your family gets seriously ill and requires emergency medical treatment that costs you several thousand dollars not covered by your health insurance. What do you do? You postpone buying the new car and use the money for emergency medical care.

It’s a shame that it has come to this.

The legislation to fund government operations – averting another partial government shutdown – was passed by Congress and signed into law by the president Friday.

I love Trump, but when will his advisors get him on the right argument for securing the border - THE CONSTITUTIONAL ARGUMENT!!!!

“The United States...shall protect each [state] against invasion.”
U.S. Const. art. IV, sec. 4.

It is the feds constitutional duty to STOP INVASION. Illegal immigration and immigration of our enemies are INVASION.

THE CONSTITUTION is the best argument for a national emergency, if that’s what it takes, and going against things like unconstitutional court decisions and unconstitutional Congressional acts and failure to act.

WE THE PEOPLE MUST get back to the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land. The Rule of Law - FREEDOM - versus the Rule of Man - TYRANNY.

Again, here, the Constitution is solid ground for Trump to proceed - he is mandated by the Constitution to do so - even better than the Angel Moms as good as that argument may be.

And while we’re on the subject of a constitutional federal government, I hope the government stays shut down and then gradually bring back ONLY the 20% constitutional portion. Leave the $3 trillion + 80% unconstitutional portion shut down.

Reinstating the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land against the feds is the KEY to the recovery of our Free Constitutional Republic.

"Trump forced to declare emergency because of congressional apathy, negligence and incompetence"

Not true. Trump was forced to act by a Congress engaged in active sabotage and steps to replace a patriotic American citizenry by a more dependent, compliant illegal alien populace that will assure that the Uniparty will rule forever. Trump threatened both parties and exposed the widespread corruption of our government and his supporters must be vanquished.

The issue is being clarified, and the lines of demarcation being made brighter, thanks to PDJT.

1) What’s stopping the chief law enforcement from ENFORCING the (existing) Law?? Hell, Trump extended DACA FCS.

2) He could have taken the EASIER, and FAR more Constitutional route, by terminating the welfare state in all its shapes/matters/forms. Fact, that would have a multi-faceted effect (restore Rights, restore property, shrank govt, etc.)

3) He also didn’t NEED to eat the latest s*-sandwich of a ‘budget deal’; did FAR more damage than the $1.375 would *ever* ‘fix’

” against invasion.””

when some people (nutzy p etc including charities and various organizations helping) view them as refugees making their way to a better life - they will not consider it constitutional because to them it’s not invasion, but compassion and charity.

rose colored glasses till someone near and dear to them is assaulted or worse.

Anyone with half a brain knows that when you have untold millions of undocumented aliens running free in your country, and you have no idea who they are, where they are, what they’re doing, and what diseases they carry, that it’s a true national crisis. Liberals however, don’t even have half a brain.

Yep. And we’ve got Ann Coulter and some on here bashing Trump because he’s not getting 100% of what he wants 100% of the time. Trump is our best and maybe only chance. No one else was standing up to the illegal invasion of our nation.

The invasion of our nation would have continued and been swept under the rug if Trump didn’t make a stand. We need to stand with Trump and remove those from office that don’t want to protect our nation.

Comgress let him down for the past 2 years. the dems have sabataged his every effort for the past 2 years.
Ryan did all he could to stop Trump’s work.
The media have tried to destroy him for over 2 years.
His advisors are way too careful on how they perceive what needs or can be done.

All who have been in Washington have advised Trump on PAST knowledge and “how it’s done”... Throw it all to the wind.. and do what has to be done... this is not normal times. If Trump is the only one being careful... his work will go undone... left in the dust of dems and corrupt actions.

The President needs to go full force into shark infested waters and do what he has to do... the laws have already been nullified by obama and the dems and judges... we are in uncharted waters... it’s time to set precedent by doing what it takes to fix this mess.

Democrats do not care about the damage caused by illegal immigrants. Ask them how much it costs each year for welfare, food, housing, medical care, education, courts and prisons for illegal immigrants? They do not know. This will be added to the national debt. Ask them what is the Democrats plan to pay off the debt? They do not know. The carrying costs will shackle our children and grandchildren.

Trump should comply with Pelosi’s request to declare a national emergency over “gun violence”. Yes, declare constitution supreme over state and local laws, order DOJ to help roll-back these unconstitutional usurpations.

We didn’t “lose” this week, if at all, when the President signed the bill.

We lost last November, when the democrats won back the House.

Everyone of us who did not do enough to get democrats defeated are as guilty as anybody else.

The President has been very consistent on what he wanted to do.

He didn’t hold all those rallies last Fall to see Pelosi win. He needed the rest of us to pull the correct levers.
