Hmmm, maybe I should see Green Book after all, if Spike disapproves.
Green Book was the worst kind of awful. But far worse was Skin, which won the best live action short.. I saw all FIVE of the shorts at a special screening at a Bow-Tie Cinema in Montclair NJ. SKIN is just unbelievably over th top as an “ironic” object lesson about bigotry and revenge, but that’s exactly why it won. By far the best was “Detainment”-—amazing on all levels —about the real life brutal killing of a small boy in Liverpool by 2 10 year olds. It was huge news in the 90s, and the film is unforgettable.
Im reading the liberal criticisms of Green Book and it is truly frightening. The criticism is that it portrays hope and how far we’ve come, that racism can be overcome. They reject all of this and say America is a “brutally” racist country. These people are racist evil personified.
Spikey only bitched because he lost. It pays no credit to the winner.

I doubt either film holds any socially redeeming value or entertainment value for that matter.
The only thing worthwhile watching at the Oscars was the Red Carpet with Joan Rivers. After she died, it was no longer worth viewing.
Too bad about Joan. She was a BIG Donald Trump fan. I’ll bet she would not have pulled any punches on the idiots who are always spitting out falsehoods and grumping about him.
If you're interested in watching a fictionalized account of how nasty white people were to blacks in the 1960s, yeah, go for it.
The best review I read of the Eddie Murphy film, "Mr. Church," was just five words: "Eddie Murphy fixes white people."
In that same vein, here's my review of "Green Book": Viggo Mortensen teaches a snooty black man to eat fried chicken.
There, I just saved you $20. And you're welcome.
