One positive thing you can say about the Soviet Union is that everyone had a job. In fact, if you didn’t work, they shot you. The guaranteed minimum wage was a loaf of bread. But upward mobility was unheard of unless you worked in government.

AOC is now saying every household will be required to have chickens. Chickens will eat the table scraps, produce eggs, meat and fertilizer. We won’t need to make fertilizer out of oil anymore.

"Having a job" is not the same as "working." Just ask anyone who's ever held a government job.

"We pretend to work, and they pretend to pay us," they said in the good old days of the Soviet Union.

The expression I've heard that captures the real Soviet scene: "They pretend to pay us, we pretend to work."
