There is nothing illegal about requesting a tax assessment. What would be illegal would be an attempt to bribe a tax assessor or appraiser.

As for my property tax assessments, they are nearly always lower than market values. When they are higher than expected, I call and ask the assessor’s office to reassess.

People are getting killed in illannoy because real estate taxes are so goddamned high that selling a house is very problematic. Only very well off people who don’t care or those who have the misfortune to be transferred here for their jobs are potential buyers.

Exactly. So.... Trump could not have just decided to devalue his real estate and lied to the IRS about the value, because the IRS DOESN'T allow you to decide the value.

I have a property tax guy on retainer. Every year he reviews the property tax and appeals it when necessary. My property taxes are the lowest in the neighborhood.
