Yep I’m an outlier. Like opera, Braodway, musicals. Addicted to Les Miserables.
When I was a teenager, the mother of a really cute girl sponsored a local opera company by buying lots of tickets and inviting her high-school peers, male and female. So I went to a lot of opera - like I said, she was really cute - right up to the point where she married one of my three best high school friends. It's ok. I am sure that Navy and graduate school would have destroyed any hypothetical relationship - but a fella can dream, right?
Anyway, I have decided over the years that there is some opera that is great and then there is a lot of screeching that I will gladly dispense with listening to, including a lot sung by said so-called best friend. G&S is a different matter.
