Trump is getting in the way of the illegal cash flow that Congress thrives on. Building a wall is the last straw since it would dramatically slow down the easy flow of drugs and human meat for the organ, off the books labor, and perversion markets across the Southern border.
The drug & human traffic across the Southern border is the cash cow and because it's an all cash business all off the books. Gambling is a distant but important second for the same reasons and look at what Trump hitting the NFL for kneeling during the National Anthem did the popularity of NFL games this year which means the drop in betting was just as dramatic if not more so. Less cash flow to the "importers" is less cash for Congress Critters in both parties.
Half or more of the Republicans are just as anxious to see Trump gone as the democraps.
The country is dying of gangrene and the only question is will the cure be a harsh antibiotic selectively applied that kills individual gangrene cells or the more dramatic geographical equivalent of a limb being amputated.
