I think she lived in Westchester County, just north of New York City. I grew up in Queens, and one of the complaints people in New York State outside of NYC had about subsidizing “the city” was the relatively low real estate taxes. People living on Lawn GuyLand or in Westchester and working in NYC paid the full freight for NYC income tax (you heard right, a city income tax) plus high local real estate tax. (Same as people living in New Hampshire and working in Massachusetts.)
