Journals applaud seven outrageously fake papers.
John Stossel has been reporting for many years.
I still recall him interviewing a professional wrestler and asking that wrestler on camera, if what they do on stage really fake? That wrestler boxed Johnnies ears in a split second and then walked away. I think his hearing was effected for the rest of that show.

He looks about 10 years younger.
I met him in-person after one of the tapings in Midtown-in fact, I think I have the picture on my profile page.
He seems to love what he does, and that is being a reporter who actively moves around and meets real people. Not a theoretician crunching data.
He had lung cancer.
It's an incredible disservice to not point out that the media outlets he used to work for do exactly the same thing. Hell, odds are that the editors of the academic journals are former editors from national outlets. It's probably the same people who corrupt news to fit agenda who are doing the same thing to academia.

The fact that the fighter in question could actually deliver a serious blow doesn’t in any way answer whether the broadcast fights on stage are really fake.
The challenge would be finding a pretext in a real academic course to raise these topics. The hoaxes were accepted by journals in the garbage studies ghetto, which is a highly self-selected asylum and echo chamber. That said, it wouldn't be too hard for professors in real academic disciplines to swerve into this territory. Any discipline in which postmodernism and critical theory contend for attention has this boundary problem.
The Media has been corrupted for many decades. They do not see it as corruption, but as moving the "progressive project" forward.
Part of their means of ideological control is to only advance people who have shown themselves to be ideologically reliable.
Stossel was ideologically reliable. But after he got to the top, he was self-aware, and honest enough to realize the deceit the Media was involved in.
There are other examples. The lies of Progressivism are so blatant that some cannot help but notice. David Horowitz is another example.
He got slapped by wrastler David Schultz and in turn sued the WWF and won a few hundred thousand for his troubles. Should be able to do a search and find a video clip of the incident on line.
If you have been to college in the past 20 years and had your eyes open, you have seen this BS running rampant.

I think the fighter’s point was quite clear. The pain is real which is all that counts.
You can make sense of any of that stuff
if you drop enough acid.
