I expect them to try to get The State of Incarceration a couple of Senate seats too, grabbing the felon vote.
Eventually, both Guam and PR will sign up for it. I’m surprised that the Virgin Islands hasn’t done it already.
DC should go entirely to Maryland. Virginia reclaimed is part of DC around the Civil War. If I remember correctly.
Guam could offset Puerto Rico
They cant get new states set up and admitted to the union that fast. But sure, this has been a D machine goal for many years
No, there will not be new states next year or in 5 years.
This and the 16y/o voting age proposal are what happens when you allow the inmates to run the asylum....
What happened to California’s split up ?
Then they both would tip over!..................
Give DC back to Maryland, just like they did the portion on the other side of the Potomac back to Virginia.
Texas can become 5 states with 10 senators.

While we are at it, split California into three stats, a 75 mile wide strip of the coast from LA to SF, Northern California, and Eastern California. Split the Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, St, Louis and Philadelphia areas off from their respective states while we are at it.
VA retrocession happened in 1847, actually. The original D.C. was a 10 mile by 10 mile square. The VA portion (Alexandria) consisted of about 3!% of the total.
What about other places, such as the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa?
If such places would expect to be Democrat, then Democrats will push for other new states as well.
What make these two particularly notable in the context of DC statehood where virtually all of the Dems are already on board?
I wonder what would happen to the Dems if a sizeable chunk of GOP voters in a few strategic places switched their registration to vote in the Democratic primary in order to vote for Elizabeth Warren (who wants to break up the businesses of the donors where the lunatic ideas are coming from). They could switch back immediately after the primary.
People dont understand that the creation of states, outside of 1865-1912, was always a highly political game of regional and/or party balance.
Even Alaska and Hawaii were admitted in-part because it was assumed Hawaii would be GOP to offset Alaska being Democrat.
If any states are added, it may be a number up to 10.
