Some women are happy to let the march pass them by

...for all the talk of “women’s issues” and “women’s power” and “what women bring to the table,” there are some — arguably a third of American women — who don’t feel that this is about them at all. In these divisive times, women are as divided as the nation as a whole, and “what women want” depends on which women you ask.

“I don’t want these women who are marching and hollering and celebrating to represent me,” says Beth Ann Arnett, 49, a home health aide from North Judson, Ind., who has also worked in a fiberglass factory and driving a tractor-trailer. “I am ashamed of those ladies.”..(snip)

Anna Ruman, of Coffeen, Ill., also thinks the spotlight on these subjects does not reflect her own life. Now a veterinarian with the U.S. Department of Agriculture doing emergency planning for outbreaks of farm animal diseases like foot-and-mouth and bird flu, Ruman used to be a harness-race driver, and yes, she says, she was treated differently because of her sex.

“They would criticize me more,” she says. “Even if I’d win a race, they would say, ‘Why did you do this? Why did you drive that method?’ I would answer, ‘Well, I won, didn’t I?’” When it became clear that “most owners won’t search out a woman driver,” she says she didn’t “complain about it, I just drove my own horses and showed them.

“All this moaning that people need to change their thinking, or that the government needs to intervene, that’s just people with too much time on their hands and they’re too far away from reality,” she says.

I think it’s stupid. I don’t need an international day. Right now, boys and men in America are being marginalized and asked not to be themselves. The only way to have a loving, wonderful society is to allow both men and women their own natures.

I grew up during women’s lib. I grew up thinking I could do anything I wanted. I think it’s almost funny that any woman in America thinks in 2019 that men hold them back. I also do not think that in 2019 white people hold black people back, or straights hold gays back. I don’t see the need to fuss over it.

I do see the need to fight for marginalized groups in other parts of the world, and safety for children and helpless people (seniors and special needs), and to stop abuse of underlings and youth by powerful people. I’m glad overall for the #metoo movement. People who have been truly abused need to speak up to keep future girls safe. I don’t want my daughter abused like I was.

It is ok to be male. It’s not toxic. It’s good, and powerful. It’s ok to be female. And it’s ok to be male or female and not be traditional, too. It’s all ok; there is room for us all. You cannot say that it is wonderful for a lesbian to be able to be as butch as the toughest rodeo rider, and not allow men the very same privilege. If you allow transgenders to be super made up, frilly, and feminine, then you must allow women the same right.

Wearing hats representing genitals was the first clue these people are seriously deficient in reason. The second clue was that the leader wears a hijab and supports sharia law — because women have so many more rights in the Moslem world than Trump’s Handmaid Tale America...

International Women’s Day is a Communist holiday dating back to Lenin.

sad to see corporate America pushing it at every turn, sometimes hightlighting Communist icons.

My wife voiced similar concerns. She also said “what about a march for white men?” to which I replied “we are all too busy working, keeping our families and country going to waste our time on marching”

American women have been “equal” for decades now, and many HATE IT. The government still has to steer them into STEM fields because so many have no interest in working LIKE MEN; even at 60% of college classes (for years now) they still end up over-represented in the “traditionally female” fields - by their own choices.

The seething resentment of my ageing female coworkers who opted out of families years ago is palpable - and not just towards the men who didn’t breed with them, but towards the younger (often ethnic minority) women who do have families.

When they wear their female genitalia hats, I don’t see a political statement; I see a sad admission that this is what they’ve reduced themselves to.

The article presumes women should think alike. I am an individual. I do not need to wear a pink hat. I have been in the work force nearly 40 years. Women can go as far as they want and like any individual limited by personal choices.

That is why the yellow vest protests in France are on weekends; unlike the normal chaos of youths rioting any time, those protestors are the working people who actually pay the bills.

That Women’s Day is a slap in our faces. Big woo, a whole day just like squirrels get their day! We’ve had our day every day just like men for practically forever. My grandmother, born at the turn of the century, was working equally along side my grandfather and doing both man’s and woman’s work all her life. Same with her mother and so on back. No, thanks, I’ll trade my day in for a second Chocolate Day.
