Stuyvesant High School, New York Citys most prestigious secondary school, only admitted seven black students for the upcoming fall term. Asian students make up 73 percent of the student body.
According to a report from the New York Times, Stuyvesant High School only offered admission to seven blacks students this year for their incoming 900-seat freshman class. This news has sparked debate across the political spectrum, with figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez chiming in.
Maggie Haberman of the New York Times argued that white students dominate secondary schools like Stuyvesant because they can afford to prepare for its entrance exam. However, this isnt exactly true. NBC News reported in 2018 that Asian-Americans make up 73 percent of the student body at Stuyvesant. Additionally, all of the New York City schools that accept students based on the SHSAT exam are majority minority.
White students generally have more means with which to prep for this test, some doing it for years, Haberman wrote on Twitter. Yes its a test, no it is not an equal playing field.
Peter Kauffmann, the former spokesperson for Senator Hillary Clinton, explained to Haberman why she was painting an incomplete picture. But white students arent the ones getting in. Its mostly low-income Asian kids, Kauffmann wrote in a tweet.
Im talking about the system as a whole, not Stuy. Thanks! Haberman replied. But Kauffmann quickly realized that Haberman was trying to avoid admitting that she was wrong.
I thought by this test you meant the SHSAT, Kauffmann wrote, referring to the test that is used as an entrance exam for eight New York City high schools.
Shockingly, Haberman then tried to make it look like Kauffmann was uninformed on the issue. Yes I do, she wrote. Youre aware it is not just for Stuyvesant.

The number is no good unless we know how many applied and WHY any were turned down.
Stuyvesant is an exam school. You take the test, there is a cutoff. You’re above the line, you get in, below the line, you don’t.
Yeah, that's it.
I wonder if those Asian students cheat? The ones born in China cheat like hell at American universities.
With the average IQ of East Asians at 105, whites 100, Hispanics 90, and blacks 85, the higher the IQ threshold in some selection process, the more disproportionately the races will be represented. We don’t require sports to be racially diverse and should not require selective schools to be either.
It's called junior high. Oh, and studying and doing your homework.

Wouldn't that be 'acting White'?

This must be a typo. That would be about 660 Asians in each class of 900.
This figure does not include the 15% of seats set aside this year for a sort of minority (except for Asians, of course) first-come, first-served basis, when Im sure well see a different set of figures. And its a good way of destroying the merit system, which de Blasio hates.
Northeastern orientals have the second highest average IQ in the world, tied with Europeans. Those that haven’t absorbed the degraded modern American work ethic have a significant advantage.
I kid you not!
Of course that woman would never admit that in public.
Racist Asians doing it again./s
White students generally have more means with which to prep for this test, some doing it for years, Haberman wrote on Twitter.
Blah blah blah.
How many of the 7% were below the line but “affirmative action’d”?
"...Only 4 percent of those invited to the eight specialized high schools which include Stuyvesant, Bronx Science and Brooklyn Tech were black.
Only 6.6 percent were Hispanic.
By comparison, blacks and Latinos combined make up 70 percent of the students at all city public schools.
Meanwhile, 51 percent of the accepted students were Asian more than three times their representation in the school system.
Whites accounted for 28.5 percent, nearly double their representation in the system..."
A Chinese educational association insisted that it was the mayor and the school system who failed to prepare black and Hispanic students to pass that stiff entrance exam.
I also would like to point out that about 75% of blacks in NYC are born outside of wedlock and have no father figure in the home, while about 56% of Hispanics are born out of wedlock, also with no father figure around. The percentages of whites and Asians born out of wedlock are far smaller.
I would also like to point out that I personally found black students to be the most likely to cut class and fail to do assignments, followed by Hispanics. Therefore, with such self-inflicted gaps in their education, how would you possibly expect blacks and Hispanics to be on the same level of academic achievement and ready to pass a stiff entrance exam? And even if they passed it, with a poor attitude like that toward education, how would you expect blacks and Hispanics with low entrance exam scores to pass classes in high schools where ALL the classes are honors, accelerated, etc. level? It is ludicrous, yet DumblASSio wants to reserve 30% of the seats in these schools for black and Hispanic students, knocking deserving white and Asian kids out of their place in those classes. Typical libtard attitude, agenda over reason.
Maybe they didn’t pass the test?? It’s by merit only at Stuy.
Yeh, they didn’t pass the test. Whose fault is that REALLY??
that’s about what is to be expected....
mostly Chinese (and at least the more traditional of the Jewish students, and a few more scattered among mostly European and Asian groups....but again, mostly Chinese...) students are almost always at the top of the academic performance lists
in ANY school...inside or outside of NYC...
in many years of observation, we have seen only ONE high-performing black student (and unfortunately, he “dropped out of school .. and society...went into the underground and even his family couldn’t find him for many years...a serious loss of “brains” .. but he was the one who had them).
As was noted centuries ago, each person is given certain gifts....and yes, some of these gifts do tend to run along ethnic or tribal lines (that being, it is only to be expected that related people will display at least some related characteristics)
