I’m asking you, did you think it was done for entertainment purposes only? What reason do you think he shot that afghani? If not justified than all other paths lead to PTSD. He should have treated then, rather than prosecution.
Remember he is on his 3rd deployment with particular predilection to random murder.
How about the soldier that killed an afghani just because he was abusing children or do you think he did it for some nefarious reason?
I think there was something wrong with this guy from the beginning. First of all he was not a professional soldier, Regular Army, but a weekend warrior National Guardsmen who volunteered for combat deployment at least three times. THAT in itself tells you he has a few screws loose. A would be adventurer who couldnt get into the Army. Obviously with no civilian job and nothing but time in his hands to go overseas as active duty. Nothing to keep him in the states in terms of a future.
Second, national guardsmen are not assigned as POW interrogators. That assignment is a very specialized field. Not for part time weekend warriors.
My guess is that this guy was just playing soldier as a enemy interrogator without any formal training and things just got out of hand and he thought threatening the prisoner would make him talk and when he didnt he just blew the guy away.
