See post 10 above. This is likely a trap to see if the media is dumb enough to exceed the “public figure” exception to libel and slander with actual malice. What you propose would not have that effect or be actionable in court. Keep in mind that the FCC and indeed the Feds have *no* jurisdiction over the cable news networks in this respect - CNN can collude with Team Fake Russia all they want.
However, taking them to the cleaners for libel and slander? That will get their attention *real* fast. Sue them for more money than they have and shut them down to be liquidated to pay the judgement - and it will happen faster than any Fed investigation ever would.

PBS aired a short “collaboration” between Frontline and NewsHour to run down the timeline of the investigation.
Except they start the clock with Trump’s swearing in and are shocked (clutch the pearls) that President Trump questioned what Comeystain was up to.
No mention in the first half (15 minutes out of 30) that the investigation began in 2015. They didn’t start their timeline with the texts betweening the FBI agents saying that candidate Trump must not win. They didn’t mention Comey’s lying to Congress or leaking to the press.
PureBS did a total hit piece with no sense of outrage at the witchhunt from the Left. No attempt at any sort of balance.
Pull the plug on financing. This network is friendly to the Weather Underground and Black Panthers and SLA.
If the malice standard is set, I wonder if it's limited. Can such a standard be applied to Democrat Congress-critters who continue to spout such malicious falsehood in defiance of the evidence that not one vote cast for Hillary became a vote for Trump due to Russian interference(no collusion took place), and can they be made to pay a financial price for broadcasting their lies?
