Charges against actor Jussie Smollett have been dropped, his attorneys said Tuesday.
Smollett is in court to make an emergency court appearance.
In a statement, Smollett's attorneys Tina Glandian and Patricia Brown Holmes said, "Today, all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him. Jussie was attacked by two people he was unable to identify on January 29th. He was a victim who was vilified and made to appear as a perpetrator as a result of false and inappropriate remarks made to the public causing an inappropriate rush to judgement.
Jussie and many others were hurt by these unfair and unwarranted actions. This entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion. That is wrong. It is a reminder that a victim, in this case Jussie, deserves dignity and respect. Dismissal of charges against the victim in this case was the only just result.
Jussie is relieved to have this situation behind him and is very much looking forward to getting back to focusing on his family, friends and career."
That and Van Jones comment:
“This is the fall of an icon and I don’t think people understand how important he has been in the black community. ‘Empire’ as a show, to have him as a beloved character, I think did a great deal to knock back homophobia in the black community,”
(But IMHO comparing Smollett to Jackie Robinson was a disgrace. Smollett couldn’t hold Robinson’s jock strap)
Perhaps this ruling has something to do with his lawyer’s (Mark Geragos) indictment a few days ago?

The Chicago PD has had issues with Kim Foxx for years, she is anti law enforcement who has kissed off similar cases that did not make the national spotlight. She has made it almost impossible for the CPD to do their job. Foxx has decided that the police do not have the protection of an sworn officer of the court and can be individually sued. With this a Cop can be sued even though they followed department rules to the letter. and in deadly force cases the ACLU tells the relatives can get cash in the pocket if they sue. This has had horrible consequences.
One female officer was reluctant to use deadly force on a black attacker and was shot and wounded instead thankfully a follow officer took action and the perp’ was give the room temperature challenge. It will be very interesting to check in at the Second city Cop blog to see what the individual cops are saying about this. The Second City Cop blog is run by an retired CPD cop and active cops comment anonymously it is there you learn just how bad it is.
Yep I bet somebody @ CPD was selling info to TMZ or something and muddied the whole thing too much to prosecute.

Kudos to you for thinking about that. Maybe he cooperated bringing Geragos down in which case, unless he has a lot of money for good security, his life probably isn’t worth a plug nickle after they get through with him for being a rat fink.
