For the first time in more than three decades, Republican-appointed judges will soon occupy nearly half the seats on the left-leaning 9th Circuit Court of Appeals -- dealing a setback to progressive legal advocates who have long seen the court as a safe bet for favorable rulings.
The radical transformation of the San Francisco-based court is largely the result of President Trump's aggressive push to nominate conservative judges and bypass traditional consultations with Senate Democrats -- a practice that has led to repeated howls of protest from California's two Democratic senators, Kamala Harris and Judiciary Committee ranking member Dianne Feinstein.
Once Trump's latest picks to the 9th Circuit, including Ken Lee and Dan Collins, are confirmed as expected and remaining vacancies are filled, 13 of the 29 active seats on the key appellate court will be filled with judges picked by Republican presidents. At this time last year, 16 judges on the 9th Circuit were appointed by Democrats, with only six chosen by Republicans.

The 9th Circus will remain a circus until there is a majority of sane jurists on the bench.
This will just encourage the Rat 9th circuit judges to more diligently ginsburg their votes in, from wherever, by some clerk somewhere posting a four-year-old stock photo of the “attending” judge.
What kind of asinine "tradition" is that? Sounds like a RINO/Bushoid deal - where we just get screwed for nothing in return.
You need to look at those who are currently on the court as well. Boosh II put some “oldsters” on the court and Trump is likely to have ( or more correctly gets the opportunity) to replace them too.

Milan D. Smith Jr. is 76
The other three are 68, 65, and 64.
Trump has already had to replace N. Randy Smith last October and he was only 69.
Obola has only one that Trump may get to replace
Andrew D. Hurwitz who is 71
The rest are all in their 40’s and 50’s
Trump also has a current vacancy for which he has yet to name a replacement for Diamuid O’Scanlon who went on Sr. status on 12/31/16.
Wish they would quit even bringing attention to this. Just let it happen then bring it to light after it is done. They are just riling up more dem opposition by doing this.
A great start at reforming the commie courts and eventually restoring some public respect for the judiciary.
Until the politicians are replaced with actual judges the court will remain an arm of the progressives.

“Safe bet for favorable rulings”? What’s the author talking about? The Chief Justice assures is there’s no such things as Obama judges or Clinton judges who could be “safe bets”

Feinstein so disgraced herself at the kavanaugh confirmation hearings that she’s unworthy of being consulted about anything. Her behavior was horrid, disgusting. And the new California senator’s just another communistic demagogue whose knowledge of legal matters is less than zero ( she’s out shaking all the usual commie- leftist-nazi funding trees for a claimed campaign for the one job in USA she’s ineligible to hold — deserves a prison sentence for fraud - at the least). The once- great state of Californication has descended into a political ( and literal) cesspool.
That’s what they do... They show positive support for the team quarterback while they help show his playbook to the other team making it harder to win. They have done this a LOT over the years.

Some State Courts require Justices to stand for election and some of those are subject to Recall.

Judges retire or die. They are life appointments.
