More than 250 companies are looking to follow Sony by moving from the UK to the Netherlands because of Brexit, it emerged on Wednesday.

The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) said that scores of companies with UK headquarters had expressed interest in relocating, and the number was expected to rise.

Sony is among several corporations that are taking early action to mitigate the effect of a disorderly Brexit.

The number of businesses we are in contact with for a possible arrival is growing Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency The Japanese company explained that the decision to move its legal base from the UK was due to “uncertainty around Brexit” and regulatory issues involved in Britain leaving the EU.

Downing Street responded by pointing to record employment levels. Michiel Bakhuizen, of the NFIA, said: “The number of businesses we are in contact with for a possible arrival is growing. At the start of 2017 it was 80. At the start of 2018 it was 150, and now it’s more than 250. “This increase will continue and it is not strange, because there is great uncertainty at the moment in Britain. And if there is one thing that’s bad for business, it’s uncertainty.”

No one can call themselves conservative and be against England getting out of this Germany controlled beast.

They can call themselves lot of other things though :)

I know I do.

I’m sure there are probably an equal or greater number of companies who find it advantageous to do business from a non-emasculated pussified location, but that’s not newsworthy because it’s counter-agenda. Only Quisling behavior is worthy of publicity.

Conservative party in the UK is completely different from American conservatives. The British conservative government implemented gay marriage in the uk for example

Not really. Businesses are moving out of the UK as it would lose its contact to a large market and give not much in return. Amsterdam gives them all the capabilities they had in London in the EU

Weeks after the Brexit vote in June 2016, Japan urged the United Kingdom to negotiate its EU divorce quickly and transparently to protect business.

Uncertainty would cause market volatility and reduce trade and investment, Japan warned. If the United Kingdom failed to secure a Brexit deal that protects trade, its companies could leave the country.

“What Japanese businesses in Europe most wish to avoid is the situation in which they are unable to discern clearly the way the Brexit negotiations are going, only grasping the whole picture at the last minute,” the government wrote in a 15-page memo.

Two and a half years later, and with just 10 days left on the Brexit countdown clock, that’s precisely the position all companies -— Japanese or otherwise — find themselves in. And the risk of a damaging disorderly Brexit has never looked more likely.

Give ‘em a couple of those Northern European winters, and let’s see how many come back.

why does a record or film company even need a physical office/presence in a country/collective?

Streaming is the future, or so they have told us. Same as how people in India are pushing code through the web with no import duty, so music crosses borders (for pay).

Odds of hard brexit just went up a fair bit.

You can tell just by glancing at the headlines on a brexit search, the big papers are now running scare stories on hard brexit

This is all political theater by the globalists. Switzerland is not in the EU and some of the most powerful companies in the world are headquartered in thriving Zurich, Geneva, Basel. The British could simply get the same deal with the EU that Switzerland has, if May wasn’t such a lightweight.

The British explicitly do not want the same deal that Switzerland has. The swiss EU deal is
1. Full freedom of eu citizens to live and work in Switzerland
2. Switzerland pays into the EU budget but does not have any decision making ability or influence
3. Switzerland needs to follow EU rules and regulations in order to continue trading.

The UK does not want this

I’m guessing hard Brexit is at 60%. The EU wants to kick out the UK but hesitates about the bad press.

May and the rest of the UK have no clue what they want to do or not

Besides, Belgium is like Randy Newman’s short people, it’s got no reason to live. Get it over with, tear it down, give Wallonia to France and Flanders to Holland. It should have happened 100+ years ago after Leopold’s mass democide in the Congo became apparent.
