Socialism is surging in City Council.
A total of five democratic socialists, and possibly a sixth, won races for alderman either in February or in Tuesday’s runoff elections.
That sixth candidate, Rosanna Rodriguez-Sanchez is trailing longtime Ald. Deb Mell by only a few dozen votes. Mell, whose family has represented the 33rd Ward for more than 40 years, is hoping that mail ballots will help her maintain her seat.
Two members backed by the Democratic Socialists of America won in the first round in February.
Carlos Ramirez Rosa won re-election in the 35th Ward. In the 1st Ward, Daniel La Spata defeated veteran Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno.
Three more DSA-supported candidates won in the runoff.

It is as it ever was. Those who fall under the spell of socialism accept it, demand it, and bask in it, while their lives fall apart.
I guess having the media tell the Chicago voters how wonderful and progressive they are is enough to keep them devouring the crap that socialism serves them.

I left Seattle because of this sort of stuff. I suspect more will be leaving Chicago.
I was at my son’s home out in the Algonquin area west of Chicago a month or so ago. I watched a snippet of the local news. If all you had to go on was what was on that news broadcast, you would think Chicago is LITERALLY an English speaking black African nation.
Not that that is a bad thing, but it was just amazing. I caught myself trying to find white people ANYWHERE in their story or their reporters.
