It could certainly be that people with psychosis are more likely to start smoking marijuana, instead of a causation relationship.I'd also like to see a comparison with alcohol. I could easily imagine that "people who drank alcohol on a daily basis were three times more likely to be diagnosed with psychosis compared with people who never drank."

I agree. There's definitely an alcohol induced acute psychosis, and people with alcohol induced encephalopathy can have psychotic symptoms, but I don't know about the likelihood of psychosis in alcohol drinkers vs non-drinkers.
