Then WH should have a 24-7 channel or podcast and do away with WH correspondants. The purpose of the first amendment was to get the government actions out to the people. Anyone now can receive info and check it out online or web sites like here. e don’t need a middleman anymore. Close the press room and turn it into a broadcast center.
The press secretary shouldn’t talk to the press every day, she should be on line answering questions from the public.

Going back to basics would include noting that the First also recognizes freedom of speech, assembly, petition to the government, and religion, and recognizing that the “Press” includes a lot more than just establishment media.
