Donald Trump will have to release five years of tax returns if he wants appear on the Illinois 2020 presidential ballot, the state’s senate has ruled.
The bill, which still requires approval by the Prairie State’s House of Representatives, comes amid a growing row in Washington over Mr Trump’s unprecedented refusal to make publicly available his income tax returns.
The US Treasury ignored a congressional deadline to release the documents earlier this week. Treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin claimed the request by the House ways and means committee was “politically motivated”.
Mr Trump himself has claimed that he cannot release his tax returns because they are under audit, although technically there is nothing preventing him from doing so.

NO BODY CARES ABOUT HIS TAX RETURNS!!! He was elected and we didn’t care about it then. It was adjudicated by the election and it is over!!! Get over the tax returns— they mean nothing. Not one damned thing. You are just lost after the Mueller report total exoneration and discombobulated. I see no problem if Illinois has made this requirement for other Presidential candidates. If not, Illinois can go pound sand.
I like your idea! Going further if a sitting president can’t get on a ballot (which has never happened in all our history) then he calls off the election and considers himself reelected.
Already ruled on by USSC. States cannot impose eligibilty requirements beyond those in the Constitution. This attempt is a PR stunt.

We should kick it out of The Union, at least Crook County anyway! Wall it off from the rest of Illinois and put patrol boats in front of it on Lake Michigan to fend off “illegal immigration” to Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.
