I have a great of sympathy for the victim and his family, but the situation was more complicated than portrayed by a media bent on portraying all cop shootings as unjustified.

My take is that the cop made an honest mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his life, not just as a matter of conscience, but career-wise. But there was no criminal culpability.
