The U.S. jobs machine kept humming along in April, adding a robust 263,000 new hires while the unemployment rate fell to 3.6%, the lowest in a generation, according to a Labor Department report Friday.
Nonfarm payroll growth easily beat Wall Street expectations of 190,000 and a 3.8% jobless rate.
Average hourly earnings growth held at 3.2% over the past year, a notch below Dow Jones estimates of 3.3%. The monthly gain was 0.2%, below the expected 0.3% increase, bringing the average to $27.77. The average work week also dropped 0.1 hours to 34.4 hours.
Unemployment was last this low in December 1969 when it hit 3.5%. At a time when many economists see a tight labor market, big job growth continues as the economic expansion is just a few months away from being the longest in history.

Moar winnamins please.
Bigly.
Now let’s clean up the disability rolls from Obama’s mess.
And yet, almost half the country wants to elect a Dem and reverse course on all this great economic news. What sick times we live in.
If not for the over stretched skin on her face Pelosi would have a hugh and series frown this morning. I can't wait for Slo Joe to babble and gaffe his way through this news at the next speech.

But will anyone be there to hear it?? hehehehe
Amazing to consider that since we had about 1/2 million American troops in Vietnam at the time.
That half is likely on “prescription” psychotropics or into heavy recreational drug use.
UNEXPECTED!

Did anyone else hear ABC News talk about this during Rush’s show news break? They actually said that the unemployment rate dropped because fewer people were in the workforce! They never said that during Obama’s reign even though it was true then.
Update: Now ABC radio news just said the low unemployment rate was “partially due to less people looking for work”!!
Oh that Trump! IS there NO END to his evil??? (sar,)
Um,.. yeah. Because more people are working. Man, ABC is some brain trust, huh?
Oh how I do hope you are right. Under normal circumstances, I would agree that Trump would be hard to beat. These are not normal times I am afraid. The media has continued to throw gasoline on the Left’s outrage machine and stirred so much controversy that the Left is going to hit the polls in droves and use every trick in their arsenal to beat Trump. A lot of suburban women are going to want to “move on” from Trump’s perceived misbehaviors “for the good of the nation and world” as they say. Coupled with that, no Leftist will vote for Trump, and no hardcore liberal Democrat will either. I just hope we can siphon off a small number of black votes and middle Democrats to get us over the hump in those states Trump won narrowly.
As a funny side note, I have a cousin who spent 12 years in prison and is a felon who cannot vote. He loves Trump and had he been able too, would have voted for him.
If this country is stupid enough to vote President Trump out of office, then it deserves everything that will happen to it.
