Student discovers profanity in STAAR Test

The state is apologizing after a fifth grader found vulgar words in the STAAR Test.

The student discovered the profanity in small lettering in images of a graffiti park inside the test booklet.

Of the overall 413,000 students who took the test more than three weeks ago, more than 15,000 received the test with the four letter "F" word in it.

In a statement, the Texas Education Agency apologized and said, "This is in no way acceptable or appropriate, and we deeply regret that these images appeared on the test."

So, what are they going to do so this doesn't happen again? Farm the test out to Disney?

“Farm the test out to Disney?”

If they farm the test out to Disney, it would probably be worse...

I wonder how much tittering could be heard in the testing room?

Just making the test more relevant to the urban student.

You know, with the F word, the C word, and the
N word, we’re well on our way to spelling France.

No-please not to Disney-they’d have f’bombs AND LGBTQXYZ-whatever images in the test booklet...

As a city-avoiding redneck woman, may I ask what a graffiti park is? I’m pretty sure we don’t have anything like that out here...

Graffiti park is private property close to castle hill near downtown Austin. The owner of the property had allowed the large concrete supporting structures to be a canvas for local artists and graffiti artists. Of course the property was recently sold and the new owner has actual plans for the property and all of the dips in the austin area screamed about heritage blah blah blah. I grew up in Austin and never knew about this until recently. Just a hippie hangout, that is no more. Search for graffiti park in Austin for images. It wasn’t terrible just a local spot.

What was the context?
Islands near Thailand, maybe.

There was a young girl from Phuket
Who ran down the hill with a bucket.
Then she thought it’d be nice
To have a bowl full of rice
But that’s way up the hill,
So F**k it!

There were apparently 2 of them, both in Texas: Houston & Austin

But the one in Austin closed recently
