Left-Wing Ideology: A Cult, a Religion, or Science?
American Thinker ^ | Gary Gindler

Posted on 05/05/2019 2:20:18 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

More than a hundred years ago, prominent Marxist Antonio Gramsci wrote: "Socialism is precisely the religion that must overwhelm Christianity. [Socialism is] religion in the sense that it too is a faith with its mystics and rituals; religion because it has substituted for the consciousness of the transcendental God of the Catholics, the faith in man and in his great strengths as a unique spiritual reality" [1]. Equalizing an ideology with religion was pretty novel back then. However, Gramsci was talking about religion not as it is commonly understood — i.e., the relationship between God and men — but as a collection of religious attributes and rituals. In his point of view, socialism was godless religion, the cult of the messianic Marx.

At the same time, Gramsci understood that socialism (and leftism in general), like any other dogma, is immune to empirical, rational challenges because, by definition, its postulates are untestable — untestable not because it is impossible to conduct such tests, but because followers of leftist ideology reject any idea of such a test in principle. (By the way, this is something leftists have in common with Muslims.) They are mostly true believers; they aggressively reject any attempts to test the foundations of their dogmatic beliefs.

Leftists' behavior is utterly illogical to a degree one might call unscientific. Their irrationality is based on illusory knowledge — i.e., knowledge acquired through a system of beliefs, expressed by well known authorities (Marx, Engels, Lenin, Bernstein, Stalin, Hitler, Trotsky, Mao, and many others). Left-wingers acquired their false, Utopian beliefs throughout the entire history of human civilization. Their undisputed belief of multiplying wealth by dividing it (i.e., by redistributing it by force) was the basis of numerous failed social experiments.

knowledge acquired through a system of beliefs, expressed by well known authorities

Such is the circuitousness of academia, and increasingly the web. As unsound principles get propagated, then quoted and re-quoted, until they become the predominantly available "fact"

This is a jumbled article IMHO but it does raise some interesting issues.

It states:

There is a simple test to distinguish between scientific knowledge and the pseudo-scientific kind. The test is based on the fact that the human reaction to new information that contradicts the original knowledge depends on the method of acquiring that original knowledge.
I have heard an easier to understand definition of "pseudo-science" (I don't remember where I heard it).

Pseudo-science is that "science" in which the study of something (anything) is

(1) An analysis/examination/investigation to prove a preconceived ideology.

INSTEAD OF BEING

(2) An analysis/examination/investigation to find the truth wherever it may lie or whatever it is.

The science of climate change is a good example of pseudo-science.

Cult. A cult covers all the other options, really.

Socialism is even worse than a mouse trap because it fails to understand that "meaning" in life comes not from having free cheese but from the process of hunting for and finding cheese.

In short, it's the thrill of the hunt that gives life meaning.

As winners of the Mega-Millions lotteries will tell you, free stuff ruins life.

Yep, it’s jumbled but good.

Part of the problem for us conservatives is that we’re tasked with defending something that we don’t fully understand. That’s because conservatism is based on reality, and per Godel, anything that’s real can’t be fully known. Meanwhile the left’s big idea isn’t real which makes it fully knowable and therefore easier to wrap words around. It’s the difference in a real person and a character in a book. You can never fully know a real person but you can fully know a fictitious character. The fact that the left’s ideology is not real has the paradoxical advantage of making it easier to express and defend rhetorically.

It is not science because there is no search for truths that they must be held accountable to over the generations.

The Left and the Muslims are both pseudo religions in that they both do not believe in the Golden Rule which determines the ethical treatment of human beings. Both are ideology based political systems. The ideological Left or more appropriate, idiotlogical Left, does not believe in critical thought: fact-based reasoning. All reasoning must be supported by their idiotlogy. This is authoritarian idiocy because it seeks to destroy anything that contradicts their beliefs.

The Cultural Marxist ideology is at the heart of the Left’s strategy to break down America and make it a Communist state. Everywhere that Identity Politics is used is the application of the strategy. It puts a nation in a suicidal path, pitting one faction against the other, in a fictitious notion of oppressive inequality with a false objective for an Utopian world.

The destruction of the Church—true religion—is one of their goals. The killing of kids is their way of proving they will go to any lengths.

Spot on! Conservatives believe in fact-based reality. The proof of this thinking is made in the advances of human knowledge that has benefited mankind in real progress.
