But Beto ORourke says that Sen. Cory Bookers new proposal to mandate the federal licensing of all gun owners goes too far.
Asked by Fox News this week if he agreed with the U.S. senator from New Jersey, ORourke answered, I dont know that we need to take the additional step of licensing every single firearm to every single owner. I think that may be too far.

I would want to ask about the issuance of Firearms Owners Identification cards in Illinois. How much has that costed the taxpayers there? How has that system worked to counter the criminal and tragic misuse of firearms in that state and what sort of results could we expect if that was extended to a federal level?
It goes too far for now. After a softer version is implemented, then they will crack down.
