House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.) on Friday announced that he has issued subpoenas for six years of President Trump’s tax returns, House Democrats' latest effort to obtain the returns.

Neal said that he issued the subpoenas to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig. The subpoenas direct the officials to send the information to the House panel by 5 p.m. on May 17.

"After reviewing the options available to me, and upon the advice of counsel, I issued subpoenas today to the Secretary of the Treasury and the Commissioner of the IRS for six years of personal and business returns," Neal said in a statement.

Everybody always says, “The Republicans shouldn’t do XYZ when they are in control or the Democrats will do the same!” The Democrats don’t need any precedence. They are quite capable of pioneering new lows. The question is, will WE follow THEIR precedence when it’s our turn?

This should be countered with a demand by a repub for every dem house and senate member’s tax returns with the stated aim of determining how each of them became multi-millionaires while in office.

if there’s a clean repub.

This country so needs a purge. The country would be such a better place if the crazy Leftists who run the Rat party and the House were suddenly on Elon Musk’s rocket to Mars.

Good luck with it. And if the Treasury Department doesn’t comply, what’s Dick going to do about it?

Going to hold Mnuchin in contempt? This isn’t going anywhere.

A survey reported that fully 50% of us don’t care one bit about those tax returns.

I’ll wager that 99.9% of the congress critters wouldn’t have a clue about what they were looking at if they saw them...with footnotes

Democrats can press all the contempt charges they want. This is a political fishing expedition totally unrelated to any legitimate oversight functions.

Dick Neal can go fly a kite.

Everyone knows Trump is rich. What it has to do with his being President, I haven’t the foggiest idea.

Now Democrats have lowered themselves to harassing the President and his family.

They’re despicable.

It's not just the dems, the "republicans" in congress are also harassing Trump and his family.

What work is he doing?

There needs to be a legislative reason. I doubt Dumb Richie has a reason, other than Nancy told him to do it.

This violates privacy laws. Not that Democrats care about the law in their quest to bring Trump down.

To them, the means justify the end.

Not going to happen.

Be aware of bills of Attainder and ipso facto laws.

With taxation without representation, we fought a war over these principles.

IF they lose this (and I don’t believe they will), they should deliver Trump’s tax returns as unbound paper copies with a forklift. (IIRC Hillary did that with her e-mails.)
