I rejected confirmation when I was 14. My youth minister was a married (to a woman) homosexual alcoholic. My FIRST youth minister left to become a famous actor. I rejected it because I didn’t believe a word of the Statement of Faith.
But you know what? Jesus snuck in there anyway. That’s because He’s God.
I once was lost, but now am found. Was blind, but now I see.
Don’t get all worked up over 14 year olds getting confirmed, or not. Most of them who go through with it never go back to church.
I am a United Methodist and their views are their views and nothing more. I can honestly say that their many young people in the church who have the opposite view. If they are uncomfortable with the church well all I can say is Bye. I wish you well and hope you find a church that you are comfortable with.
Wait....if YOU are UMC...then THEIR views are YOUR views.
How do you insure that the folks who are supporting the gay policies, in the UMC, will leave your church? Since you bid them ‘bye’?
Well we know where there false teaching came from then. The entire congregation is lost
But this was at a time when Mayor Sam Yorty, a hard-core conservative beat FDR's son Jimmy to win re-election as mayor of Los Angeles and California had two Republican US Senators--in other words, a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Incidentally, that same church today draws only a couple dozen worshipers each Sunday and its choir has only eight members.
Above all, I for one do not wish them a church they are comfortable with. When they reach Piaget’s 3rd level of moral understanding (at 13-14 they are still at the 2nd level) I hope they will find real Christianity and an uncomfortable (godly) church. At this stage of their development, their morals at the conforming “conventional” level. They are simply not old enough at this point to be capable of adult moral reasoning — or to go church shopping on their own.
No this is an example of the kids not being ok.
Methodist are pro homo but of course anyone not in line 100% with the gay agenda is painted as being against them.
The kids are lost.
how much do you want to bet that it was the minister who taught the class who presented the idea as a way to protest with out getting in trouble with the synod.
The holy Prophet Ezekiel (ch 34) has a few choice words about such false shepherds.
Tell them they can’t join the church until they get their minds right.
No there are ‘adults’ behind this in the form of public school teachers.
The kids are all right!
Youth Sodomy Halleluyah!
‘And worse yet, the congregation gave them a standing ovation.’
church congregations would stand and applaud any teenagers that did anything more intelligent than bending over and mooning them...low standards, indeed...
As we say in lower Sinshei:,
"Views and opinions are like a@@holes--everybody's got one"
The so-called "Heartland" — LOL.
When you hear twin fiddles and a steel guitar....
Sing a song about the Heartland
The only place I feel at home
Sing about the way a good man
Works until the daylight’s gone
:-(
First they get the adolescents to use their language, then they give them some little reward or recognition. Do you know where the sex dependents are going with this? They just love these kids!
The adults “behind this” are likely to be the ones teaching the students in government schools
Listen, kids — that church is better off without you.
The congregation gave them a standing ovation. “It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.” Luke 17:2
There is an adult behind this .
There is your answer. Some adult wanted this in the news.
