That is certainly a question that should be on the table.
"Backstabbing" in this context can be described as any public action by an R politician that diminishes Trump's negotiating posture with a foreign nation in a matter of importance to the U.S. (It is firmly established, of course, that effective politics is a team sport.)
In the event there is an actual blocking of tariffs in this context, there will also be the question of why those R's are supporting a next door communist government with U.S. taxpayer money.
Will it be enough for them to say, "I had to do what was necessary to keep my seat." ?
One of the best things that POTUS has to done was to pull the cover off the UniParty members for all to see. They are now exposed and hopefully dealt a punishing blow.
The GOPe arm of the UniParty has been in “stealth mode” for far too long. They’ve tried to remain “behind the scenes” to do their dastardly deeds. It was them that allowed Ovomit to not be properly vetted as a candidate for POTUS. It was them that tossed the House to the RAT side to try and allow for impeachment. It was them that have fought the POTUS every step of the way. Now, the “unwashed masses” get to see em for what they really are. Primary em all out!

Our first President, in his farewell address, on September 19, 1796, told us in no uncertain terms what would happen if we the people placed our faith in political party's.
