Dodgeball isn't just problematic, it's an unethical tool of 'oppression': researchers
National Post ^ | June 3, 2019 | Joseph Brean

The moral problem is that dodgeball encourages students to aggressively single others out for dominance, and to enjoy that dominance as a victory

Back when I was teaching middle school, my kids loved to play dodgeball at recess. Tall, short, male, female, fat, skinny, all of them loved to wing the ball full force at their target and squealed with delight when they got a hit. We used that hard red rubber ball too. A shot to the buttucks really stung. It was good for them to blow off steam.

I pity kids today for having such weak adults in charge of their days.

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a weak, pathetic, limp-wristed, virtue-signalling snowflake.

I'm sure that's what he really meant, but we'll never know, since he's passed on to the big dodgeball game in the sky.

I was a huge fan of playing dodge-ball. And my favorite part was being the target. I had a reputation for being almost impossible to hit. And I was tall for my age.

Adults “protecting” the weak and meek from the reality that humans develop different physical abilities. Next, they should ban the Olympics, the NFL, the World Series and the World cup.

Wow, these people sound like a hoot!!! I suppose they'll recommend, "stand in the corner and feel shame, whitey" game instead.

Loved dodgeball. We had a rule no headshots. Any headshot accidental or otherwise - you were out.

I loved to play as well. We used a soccer ball sized ball and as you said we would love winging it full force. I never remember even one time when the game was stopped due to injury.

The worst thing ever happened was a kid got plunked in the mouth or nose. They left the game and the teacher handed them a tissue. The game went on

This was way back in the 1953-54 era in Northern NJ.

Dodgeball is a symbol of oppression?

No, what these "researchers" are pushing is equality as they define it. Eliminating competition so that everybody gets an equal reward.

Meanwhile, our enemies are cultivating the spirit of competition and victory in the minds of their own children. Someday, it's going to come down to "us" vs "them", and "us" isn't going to know how to compete. Our collapse will be epic.

This, of course, is what "researchers" want.

Our recess wasn’t that long so I had to move things along. We used to play with four balls. One side would gather all four balls and shotgun the other side. That was fun.

We used to play serious dodgeball at my Catholic high school.

Many of the students went on to Notre Dame and other good universities, and many successful people attended the reunions for 50 years.

I don’t know how we survived without trauma from dodgeball.
