Strides Russia and China have made in space mean the United States can no longer take for granted its superiority in that domain said the nominee expected to head the nation’s Space Force and an independent Space Command said Tuesday.
“China particularly has been watching” how the United States integrated space into all its military operations, Gen. John Raymond, currently the commander of the Air Force’s Space Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee during a Tuesday hearing. Testifying with Raymond was the nominee to head the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Christopher Scolese, who has a background as a nuclear Navy officer and in NASA, he said.
China has created reversible jamming capabilities that can disrupt global positioning and communications systems and the development of high-end operations involving directed energy are just some examples he listed of advances in space made by Beijing and Moscow,
“It’s a threat that is concerning,” Raymond said.
Raymond didn’t mention the threat to U.S. satellites’ orbits, but several senators noted in their questions that China and India have demonstrated their ability to destroy their own satellites, raising concerns about the vulnerability of U.S. satellites. Space debris from destroyed satellites also represents a potential to damage to orbiting American satellites.
“We need to move fast” to keep an edge in space, Raymond said. Later, he added that the United States needed “to show we are constantly evolving” in carrying out operations in a domain that is 100 kilometers above the earth’s surface.

This is a hyper critical facet of modern warfare. Nations can live or die depending upon the best signal intelligence and the best GPS is key in battle at all levels.
Nobody knows what the x-37 does, but I’d wager it has something to do with acting against enemy satellites, or determining what about US force posture interests them.
I hope SpaceX’s Starlink constellation has some provision for the US gummint to defend against attack, since in 10 years we will be much more reliant on satellites.

NRO has always been on top of the pack. That does not mean the opposition forces don’t have capabilities.
Proof? can be difficult to nail. I’m sure evidence of attempts exist. Having access to such is an issue.

How about lower altitude firing of projectiles with rail techniques and using gravity as the assist. Less burn up in the atmosphere.

This is not true. The subject matter is too boring for most of the populace to bother looking for. There is a large amount of information that has been declassified and is floating around in the public domain. Knowing what capabilities were should allow one paying attention to extrapolate to where we are now. Those in congress who need to know do know, if you've been paying attention to the Hillary private email server issue you have your proof there.

Not fully, its classified for a reason but, a person like yourself, one that doesn't know but wants to know, could start a website or newsletter that covers these types of things for the purpose of educating the populace. Like I said earlier, looking at the declassified subject matter of the classified information that Hillary was distributing will give you a tiny window, a starting point, on recently declassified past capabilities. There are engineers out there talking about present and near capabilities of some things. Merge and extrapolate with their guidance.
