A sea change has taken place in American political life. The force driving this change is the digital era style of moral politics known as “wokeness,” a phenomenon that has become pervasive in recent years and yet remains elusive as even experts struggle to give it a clear definition and accurately measure its impact.

Over the past decade, the baseline attitudes expressed by white liberals on racial and social justice questions have become radically more liberal. In one especially telling example of the broader trend, white liberals recently became the only demographic group in America to display a pro-outgroup bias—meaning that among all the different groups surveyed white liberals were the only one that expressed a preference for other racial and ethnic communities above their own. As woke ideology has accelerated, a growing faction of white liberals have pulled away from the average opinions held by the rest of the coalition of Democratic voters—including minority groups in the party. The revolution in moral sentiment among this one segment of American voters has led to a cascade of consequences ranging from changes in the norms and attitudes expressed in media and popular culture, to the adoption of new political rhetoric and electoral strategies of the Democratic Party. Nor has this occurred in a vacuum on the left as the initiatives set in motion by white liberals have, in turn, provoked responses and countermeasures from conservatives and Republicans.

I came over this data in an excellent video by Tim Pool and thought it was worth sharing here. The text and link is to one of the articles Tim used as one of his sources. There is something really troubling going on and it dramatically took off some 8-9 years ago. It has been mentioned here many times I am sure, but many of us had this feeling that whilst leftist generally always have been somewhat insane, a sea change has taken place the last few years and it only seems to be accelerating... I really reccomend watching the video. White liberals are the only group that actively hates its own racial group. And, something happened around 2010/11 where media coverage of terms like "whiteness", "white priviledge", "diversity", "police brutality" literally exploded exponentially as shown by data mining the nexus lexus database. It makes you think.... What happened around this time?

Anyhow it really makes you think, and I thought it was worth sharing. For me it is hard to think that this is not more than just a result of organic natural development, and not some organized effort by nefarious parties. Worth noting too, that whilst this data is obviously from the USA the exact same thing has been happening in Western Europe and the UK...

I just saw that video and agree that the numbers are pretty amazing. Pool doesn't quite go so far as to suggest what I believe, that the campaigns were funded and coordinated outside the relevant social media by people who not only were making money from it - his claim - but who were knowingly engaging in cultural warfare and continue to do so.

One of the comments on the video came to my attention - a gentleman self-identifying as a black conservative said that whoever managed to convince that many white liberals to hate their own race has managed the greatest sales campaign in history. I suspect it was a case of seeds sown in an already fertile field; he suggests something darker.

As usual, an excellent comment Bill. I also read that comment (from the black conservative) and is looking through the comment section as we speak. I haven’t yet read the full tablet article, but will get to it.

I have been involved in academia on and off since the 90’s and have seen the change there as well. Maybe the seeds of much of it, intersectionality, critical race and queer theory etc. came from academia, but I find it hard to believe though, that all these rather obscure academic areas could somehow explode organically into the mainstream without someone or something giving it a mighty helping hand...

This has definitely been happening among my liberal friends. That, in addition to their palpable trumphatred, has made it difficult to be around people whose company I used to enjoy so long as we stayed away from politics.

They coined a new word, a new term, never adequately defined it, and proceed to hold us accountable to it, indeed bludgeoning us with it. I guess Ebonics fell out too fast and a new useless vernacular has taken its place. Bulverism, look that one up— which is exactly what this is. In this regard, liberal totalitarians are appropriating Islam. Let's stop right there. First of all, they aren't becoming more "liberal," they are becoming more intolerant, socialist, anti-American, anti-Christian, and totalitarian.

Secondly, their "preference for other racial and ethnic communities above their own" is a self-delusional psychosis. They think that by criticizing members of their own group, they can magically transform themselves into something that they are not.

I remember how during my youthful days in leftist politics, some people in our group would refer to other people - conservatives, or even traditional liberals like Hubert Humphrey - as "the Americans," as if we ourselves were not Americans. This is the same mentality we see now, when young leftist whites scream at older whites for being white.

The so-called preference of white elites for other cultures, religions, and ethnicities should be recognized for what it is: delusion, wishful-thinking, and a prescription for cultural and national suicide. I used to think that Europe was far more advanced in this cultural suicide than we are, and maybe that is true demographically, but culturally and socially we are rapidly closing the gap.

That graph about "white privilege" confirms what I've been saying to anyone who will listen: the radicalism of the American left has been following an ever-steeping curve.

Expressing the same views on same-sex marriage that were professed by Barack Obama less than eight years ago will now get you driven out of polite society. It might cost you your job; it will get your business thrown out of public food courts on college campuses and airports.

Bingo. Even the left has dropped the term "liberal" in favor of "progressive." Why should we use a term that they themselves have dropped, and which gives them a veneer of moderation?

That's such an important realization. Though I think it's a bit different than Bulverism. (which I had to look up as it was the first time I have seen the term.) Bulverism (as I find it defined) is a presumption or faux logical premise that your opponent is wrong. Factually wrong.

But leftists do not argue facts, and even if they did, or could, would never miss the opportunity to belittle, to attempt to humiliate.

No, leftists wish to leave their opponents unable to counter by accusing or insinuating that they are so dumb, they don't even KNOW they are racists. They do not even have the mental capability to UNDERSTAND they are racists. Of course, the conclusion proves the presumption, does it not? Which came first, the dumbness not to realize they are racists, or the racism that so pollutes their thinking that they are dumbed down just by being racist?

See, only the very special, morally superior members of the self-pedestaled elite can detect these things. At minimum, their opponents aren't yet up to speed on the latest iteration of wokeness which just this last week developed this brand new sensitivity to the very latest offensive action they do not even have the acuity to know they are unaware of BUT THEY COULD BE MEMBERS or at least Tenderfoot members of this new elite if instead of being obstinate (or even confused) they simply go along with the gaslighting. They just want to collect the bodies. The principles don't matter in the least.

I wasn’t around but as I understand it, this happened before, in the 1960’s. White liberals became increasingly radicalized, within their echo chamber. Then they were beaten by Nixon in 1968 and crushed in 1972, and the liberals cleaved themselves off from the radicals. Power is what they seek more than anything else, and radicalism cannot be allowed to get in the way of that.

The way I see things going, Trump will crush them as Nixon did in 1972, and maybe at that point, they’ll start to reevaluate things.

I think the left was waiting for incidents they could exploit for racial tensions and especially white liberal self-hate. There was the Trayvon Martin incident in 2012, the riots in St. Louis (Black Lives Matter) and things really took off in 2015 after that white creep shot a lot of black people in a church.
