He can't let it go no matter how putrefied that dead horse has become. He based so much of his reputation on "getting" Trump - having delusions of grandeur about being the one who took him down. Now that the report has proven to the entire world the whole thing was a lie, sham, hoax and plot for a coup d'état that involved Obama, Hilliary, etc., he is trying to salvage what little integrity he imagines he retains. Objective thinkers and anyone who is paying attention have already written him off. It would be sweet justice if he LOST his seat in the next election!
