A city council in Waskom, Texas, outlawed abortion procedures Wednesday and declared the city a sanctuary for the unborn.
The move was pushed by Right to Life of East Texas and precedes another bill Texas lawmakers are pushing, which would require doctors to care for babies born alive following botched abortions. Abortions are not permitted in the state of Texas after 20 weeks, The Washington Post reports.
Waskom sits on the Texas and Louisiana border and is the first city in Texas to declare such a measure. There are no abortion clinics in Waskom.
Congratulations Waskom, Texas for becoming the first city in Texas to become a Sanctuary City for the Unborn by resolution and the first city in the Nation to become a Sanctuary City for the Unborn by ordinance, said Right to Life of East Texas Director Mark Lee Dickson in a Facebook post. Although I did have my disagreements with the final version, the fact remains that abortion is now OUTLAWED in Waskom, Texas!

What’s good for the illegal alien goose is good for the unborn child gander.
PING!
We need laws and statues that prevent advocates for abortion from voting and holding public office.
‘Bout time
Wascom, TX is hardly a city, inasmuch as it has only about 2200 population. - Like the little country town that I call “home” it’s basically a “wide spot in the road” on the TX/LA line.

SORRY folks, I hit the wrong key & then posted the comment before I realized the “typo”. = It’s spelled WASKOM.

Good. Every little bit helps.
Don’t speed to fast coming through Waskom our police force will give you a surprise.....:) Waskom picks up some riffraff out of Shreveport because of being so close. Good place to live though.
TRUE. = When I was a “wet behind the ears” kid (when dinosaurs roamed Planet Earth), WASKOM was WELL-KNOWN as a SPEED TRAP, for certain.
I wouldn’t argue that it’s NOT a “Good place to live” (as my LITTLE hometown of Pittsburg is) but it’s NOT a place to just “pass through, as an outsider” unless things have changed a lot.

Well for one Waskom is not a speed trap but they will give you a speeding ticket if you exceed the speed limit, as a reminder a speed trap is when the police is setting down the road where the speed limit drops and you don’t have enough time to slow down. The speed limit on I-20 is a straight 75MPH. As far as Waskom is concern they have a very good school, nice mix of churches and very good city services for a town of its size.
Ok, how does this work?
Do babies in utero, in cities all over the US, go there for protection from mothers who want to abort them?
Are pregnant women who live there, and who want abortions, prevented from leaving town?
Certainly credit is due for disallowing abortionists from setting up shop in the town, though.
Yes, you could say the logistics of this could get complicated.
