But the complaint is not about Washington. The complaint is about the showing of slaves picking cotton. And here's the interesting thing. The Front Page site has a picture of Washington that has NOTHING to do with the story.
Note the slaves in the upper right of (part of) the actual mural.
Disclaimer: I take no position on this controversy. But I'm not happy with Front Page trying to slip one past us.
Can't they just white them out?
Jeebus!
Even the dogs are black!
Burn it!
Also the settlers marching past the dead Indian.
The artist was a Russian and a Communist who eventually went back to the Soviet Union.
So one may wonder if the mural was originally designed to paint a negative picture of Washington.
Thank you for pointing out whole truths.
Of course, my cynical self could add something to your revelation, but I’ll save that for another reply!
I have seen other GW art that includes equally incorrect material. Washington never grew cotton, nor did any one else in Fairfax County. It is to far north for the growing cycle of the plant. Also until effective ginning machines were developed little of the plant was grown, except on the Sea Islands in Georgia.
The attacks on our founders by the left and the Democrats are everywhere.
The mural was painted by a communist under the WPA program in 1937.
It was meant to portray George Washington and our country badly.
There was never cotton grown at Mt Vernon so the picture is not historically accurate.
There is no attempt to simply remove the offending parts or replace it with another mural of George Washington.
Democrats are always dishonest.
They have been attacking our country, our founders and our history.
