NOONAN:My Sister, My Uncle and Trump
WSJ ^ | June 21, 2019 | Peggy Noonan

Posted on 06/21/2019 5:52:29 AM PDT by RevelationDavid

Off the premise of "keep your friends close and your enemies closer"… Here is Peggy Noonan at her worst… Full of intellectual snobbery and seething hatred towards Pres. Trump....she is such a joke.

""It was four years ago this week, June 16, 2015, and a great professional gift was given me. I had just watched Donald Trump’s announcement speech and was pondering its impact. This guy isn’t going to be president; we’ve been reading about his tabloid antics for 30 years. But he’ll have some impact, some support. Who? How much?

At this point my phone rang. It was my elder sister Cookie, formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., now living down South, a person who’s lived a hard life and gotten through it with a spirit she does not fully see or credit. She’s not particularly political, not at all partisan.

She didn’t even say hello. She just said, “I loooooove him.”

I was startled. Who?

“Donald Trump. Did you see it?” She’d watched the announcement live. “He’s going to win.”

Cookie had voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and told me he would win, so I knew I was hearing something....""

I’m not gonna bother with the rest of her breathless, superior drivel. What’s her point?

“Cookie had voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and told me he would win, so I knew I was hearing something”

Yup. That’s how it works.

Peggy, darling, it’s nearly time for your morning white wine eye opener. Shall I bring it with some brie cheese?

Soooo thankful it’s behind a paywall and that I’m lazy..!

Didn’t read any further than you citation, didn’t try to get around paywall:

I remember when I actually liked her.

I remember when she wrote for Ronald Reagan.

Wow, what a strange miracle. Now I hate her GD guts.

I hate her almost as much as George Will, who also isn’t conservative.

People like her, who are supposed to be all that, haven’t a clue. After I watched Donald Trump give a speech from Arizona in July of 2015, I said he’s going to be the next President. I am also saying 2020 will be the same result. No prediction needed

It’s like a stream of conscious poetry dump.

I'll never forget how when she (Peggy Noonan) appeared on the Charlie Rose show back in the 1990 to talk about Bill Clinton, she kept using the word "scandal" over and over, but each time she did, she pronounced it scan-dahl, pronouncing the last syllable like the surname of author Roald Dahl, and emphasizing the second syllable instead of the first, as a normal speaker of American English would.

It was so bizarre and affected and totally phony.

Another "conservative" I once admired, who with advancing years went off the rails, like George Will.

Didn’t she support Obama over McCain? She attacked Palin in 2008.

After I watched Donald Trump give a speech from Arizona in July of 2015, I said he’s going to be the next President.

I remember seeing him do an interview with Greta van Sustern when he was thinking of running in 2012. I liked his no-nonsense non-politician manner then, but I thought he didn't have a chance. My wife was convinced that he would win if he ran. He did so the next time around, and my wife was right.

And like the elitist Ms. Noonan's sister, my wife picked Obama to win after he made "the speech" at the DNC. My wife does not follow politics much, and she didn't know anything about Obama, but she could tell he was the anointed one before I could.

At the start of the 2016 campaign, I supported Cruz. I thought he was good in many ways. But fairly early on, I switched over to Trump and I’ve never looked back. But I never had any reason to harbor ill feelings against Cruz or the other Republican candidates. I consider Jeb to be a bit of a joke, but he’s just a politician I wouldn’t vote for. No big deal.

But Peggy Noonan and George Will and quite a few other “Republicans” just hate President Trump. After all he’s been through. After all of his success. President Trump is a great, great president. And these Republicans hate him. They hate him.

Weird.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Well, this is confusing. Why would she or the WSJ preface her opinion piece with this?

That speech was mind blowing. No politician in my memory every spoke like that to a public audience.

Prime example of the RINO, Washington Swamp Creature. I tuned her out 12 years ago. Not worth my time to read. MAGA.

She needs to keep showing everyone just how totally OUT-OF-TOUCH she is.

She’s been living in her own little elitist bubble for a very long time.

I once thought Cruz was the great GOP conservative. He defeated a strong RINO in David Dewhurst, and he seemed to be an outspoken conservative as a senator. I voted for him for POTUS in the Texas primary. For awhile, it looked like he had a chance, but looking back, I think it was the ascendancy of Trump that made Cruz look good. Once Trump started making an impact, I think a lot of voters deserted the RINO insiders in droves. Cruz did not realize that he was simply a beneficiary of Trumpism.

After Cruz's "vote your conscience" stunt at the RNC, I think he became damaged goods. I now see him as a supercilious poseur. I voted for him over O'Dork last year, but I think he made a major unforced error in not getting behind Trump at the RNC. I'm tired of hearing that he was justified because "Trump attacked his wife". Cruz was supposed to be a statesman. I was not voting for "husband of the year".

When you’re so special it’s difficult to accept that regular smelly Walmart Americans can have so much power, and that they are led by a man who respects them.

She wrote some fine speeches for Reagan, probably edited by many, and that’s all she has or was. From then on she’s just another establishment gal talking down to people - I like her sister, she’s real.
