Every president (D and R) since 1945 has been relying on resolutions and such to wage war. And Congress has usually been happy to pass those resolutions. Because that’s less risky politically than voting “yes” or “no” on war.
So now we have resolutions that allow for quick surgical strikes. One and done. And now we have resolutions that allow for major, years-long wars.
That’s not what the Founders intended. So I’m hoping that what Trump is saying here is one big, clever bluff.

Trump knows another war will be a GAME OVER for his popular support, and there’s no chance that it can turn out otherwise.
There are offensive strikes and defensive strikes. No authorization is needed to defend the country. In fact, failure to do so would correctly be seen as dereliction of duty
