AT&T recently made the headlines for some misleading business concerning its 5G network in essence, it added a 5GE indicator on devices that don't actually support 5G. Even a lawsuit from Sprint couldn't stop the company. Now, another complaint is on its way to the carrier, this time from its customers. They are accusing AT&T of charging a monthly $1.99 "bogus Administrative Fee" that it doesn't properly disclose in its rates.
According to Ars Technica, the plaintiffs say the company hides the additional fee in customer bills and suggests that it is similar to some tax or other government-related payments that can't be circumvented. AT&T does provide some proper explanation on the fee, but it's hidden away in the depths of its website and is not easily accessible. It states that the costs are associated with interconnect charges and cell site rentals. The plaintiffs argue that if this description is correct, these charges should definitely be included in the advertised monthly price, as they're part of the costs for providing the service in the first place.
AT&T first added the fee in 2013 at the cost of $0.61 per month and has since raised it three times we even called the carrier out when it nearly tripled the charge back in 2018.

I worked for them for a while. What a cluster.
O no... they are the best providers in our new home state of Missouri. Must switch, thogh.
Verizon is too stinking expensive anyway.
I normally pay by the kiosk because I hate talking to their asshole staff at their retail locations. Funny. They add MORE fees when I use that stupid kiosk and when I went to a non-retail store and paid cash, it was JUST the price of the monthly. I’m joining in the lawsuit..
Another scam they have: advanced billing. They bill charges in advance for a whole month, but when it comes time for pro rated charges to favor the customers the system forgets. If you call and complain you will get it but ATT makes the money from those who don’t notice or complain.
CNN is now ATT
I was a loyal customer for years. Loved them until I tried leaving. Spent many long hours over a year trying to get them to stop charging me.
My Samsung 9 shows the 5G indicator even though Sammy sez the phone doesn’t support 5G. Legal crooks.
One of the best things Ive done was to leave AT&T for T-Mobile.
we switched to t-mobile from verizon two months ago. Good military and senior rates.
I worked for them as well... public sector side of the house. Even with the discounts sir phone service was not worth it. Would never recommend AT&T to anyone. Worst and most frustrating customer service ever.
I am in MO and just switched away from ATT to T-Mobile a few months ago. The use the same towers so the signal is the same but T-Mobile gives better service at a much better price. Devices are cross compatible too.
I was in the “fiber to the home” business 30 years ago, right after Judge Harold Greene broke up AT&T. And just look at what has happened! The RBOCS (The Regional Bell Operating Companies of which there were seven) which were taken away from AT&T by Greene’s MFJ (Modified Final Judgement), have bought and sold each other until Southwest Bell (Texas) came out the winner and bought up AT&T. So now the New AT&T has emerged, rescued by the strongest of its “children,” and SBC Communications has managed to create the biggest $hit company in the world. Poor-quality service, poor technology, the inability to provide any customer service, but they are focussed on one thing, getting your money! They will talk to you about your bill, but really nothing else!
ATT hasn’t cared about their customers in decades.
50% Operating from a Tower (Working Connection) 100% Bill EVERY TIME
PS... Sally in the PI and Jim in India were always helpful
U-Verse Tier II Member Care. No documentation on the system, no list of internal phone numbers, etc.
“Spent many long hours over a year trying to get them to stop charging me.”
sometimes the easiest thing to do is just cancel that credit card and just get a new one ...
