They see images of thousands of “migrants” coming to the Promised Land of America. It’s like the California gold rush—mass hysteria.
So a family who are able to support themselves on their salary feel driven to join all the others that they have seen and heard about looking for their dream come true. They feel safe because so many have gone on before them and phone them urging them to try it themselves. They give them tips about how to get through the journey and so on and so on. Sometimes it ends in tragedy.
