Banks are private companies, they can do what they like. So what if they decide to ban everyone who is registered Republican from holding bank accounts? It’s the free market! Just build your own economy!

I know you're being sarcastic, but some people actually think like this. No FReepers of course since ideas like this require one to go Gault, off the grid, and live like a hermit with no internet access.

Free Market indeed! lol. What a joke. America hasn't had a true Free Market economy in nearly one hundred years.

Actually BoA is a corporation. It is not privately held.

Banks have charters. I'm trying to figure out where BoA is chartered. They are restricted by the state (or federal government) in which they are chartered.

It would seem that it's discrimination to decide on who banks with them.
