Oddly, DHS had the one Obama appointee who sometimes sounds somewhat sane... Jeh Johnson. Check out his border comments, it’ll shock you that they come from someone in the Obama camp.

Unexpected - but, still a day late and a dollar short.
Immigration has been my Number One issue at Free Republic since the Bush-McCain Amnesty in 2005.
Johnson wrote the DACA and the DACA for Parents policy. He supported “Catch and Release” and did nothing to stop the huge expansion of Sanctuary Cities. Legal immigration and new Green Cards stayed above 1 million per year during his tenure. The OPT work visa program and UN Refugee admissions both doubled under Johnson.
