unequal revenue leads to unequal demand for labor, which leads to unequal ratio of demand for labor divided by supply of labor, which leads to unequal average wage rates

Equal pay for equal play.

When will the games begin?

Will the tournament be single elimination or the best out of three games?

Like the WNBA, women’s soccer can’t make it on it’s own, so let’s punish those nasty men who pay the bills.

Let’s punish the successful and subsidize those who can’t make it on their own. The last I checked, playing on the women’s national soccer team was a free-will choice. No one is forcing anyone to play soccer. If you don’t like the pay, don’t play. Or find a way to generate more revenue. If the women would provide a competitive product they’d have the same revenue as the men.

From that perspective, we can say that winning the women’s World Cup is like winning a gold medal in the Special Olympics. It’s great for the participants, but it doesn’t mean you’re going to see them on a box of Wheaties anytime soon.

OMG...This is what Senators do.

I read somewhere, that men’s soccer brings in several times more revenue than women’s soccer BUt, when you look at the percentage of what the players take in

THE WOMEN TAKE IN MORE MONEY AS A PERCENT OF THE REVENUES THAN THE MEN!!!!

IOWs, it’s the men who are underpaid.

Actually, woman’s World Cup soccer matches get higher ratings than the men’s do. I’m sure this is because the women are competitive and the men really are not on the world stage.

That’s false. No idea where you are getting that idea. The US mens World Cup match against Portugal had 24 million viewers. Well overf twice the viewers of the ladies recent match against Holland. And I’m sure you’ll recall in that Portugal match the US was “competitive” with a team that has one of the greatest players to ever play the game in Ronaldo.

I love this approach!!

Republicans please get to work on supporting and amending this bill.

Amendments should include:

1. United Nations

2. The NEA

3. The IRS

4. etc etc

This article about “equal pay” tells me US Women’s team won 3 World Cups out of 8 which is boldly claims is HALF of all Women’s World Cups.

I’ve seen claims online revenues from women’s soccer is dwarfed by men’s soccer but as a percentage of that sports revenues, the women’s World Cup winners are making more.

Sadly, logic and reason have NO place in this argument.

Don’t talk to them about percentages. As earlier, their bottom line is the $$$ on the pay check. And nothing else matters. Nothing.

The US women’s team lost 5-2 to a 15 year old men’s club team not too long ago, so you are not that far off.

Actually the USA’s women’s soccer team gets more viewers during the world cup. It is on the international scene that women’s soccer is not competitive with men’s soccer in appealing to fans.

The USA dominates in women’s soccer but not in men’s soccer. That is because US men can play pro basketball, baseball, hockey and football. Other countries put all their sports energy in fielding a good men’s soccer team.

I do not know whether the pay to women is actually less than the men get - or is it on the international level that the money is not there to support the women?

I do wish politics would not spoil the pleasure we get in watching good athletes compete? When we watch competitive sports, our political differences ought not to infringe on the sport.

I confess, that I did not watch any of the Women’s World Cup in 2019. But, that’s because I get bored watching soccer.

TV money and corporate sponsorship for the women’s world cup is dwarfed by what the men’s world cup gets.

Patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification federal government the specific power to provide funding for things like the U.S. World Cup teams.

So Sen. Joe Minchin is actually doing the right thing by the fed’s constitutionally limited powers even though he probably doesn’t know it.

On the other hand, other than having the express constitutional authority to police equal applications of the law, neither do the feds have the express constitutional authority to pay equality issues.

So misguided Sen. Minchin’s bill is an attempt to unconstitutionally expand the already unconstitutionally big federal government’s powers imo, likely an attempt to exploit low-information voters to get himself reelected.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

Remember in November 2020!

MAGA! Now KAG!

I’ve watched many of this US team’s games in past Olympics and World Cups. The politicizing and unpatriotic actions lost my interest. I watched none of this year’s team. Additionally, while I absolutely appreciate the excellence of these players and their team success, I’ve realized that their world dominance is admirable, but their competitive environment is not all that impressive. They are dominant among a lot of mediocre teams. The Latin counties do not provide a lot of talent like men’s, and there are only a small handful of European teams fully invested in developing talent. Good on them for winning, but it’s akin to caring about division II athletic championships in college.

Why are taxpayers forced to pay for this crap in the first place? A bunch of whining cry babies who get famous by playing a GAME. If private citizens want to give their own money to support these prima donnas, fine. Otherwise let’s stop giving them money from other people’s paychecks

You know what’s critically important now with Americans living their daily lives in peace and prosperity?

Pay Equality in professional kickball. /s

The next thing you know, they’ll be demanding free acting classes for their field “injuries”.

“This is ridiculous. No one cares about womyns soccer except dykes and relatives”

Uhhh that would be a biggly WRONG. Soccer is huge with little girls. Our cities multiple soccer fields are jammed packed with youth teams every weekend. Granted it is Southern California but it is hardly just Hispanics running around playing. Actually there doesn't seem to be one Women on the National team of Hispanic heritage. Now personally I could give a damn about this team of budding Bolsheviks
