Jones supports democrats that he thinks can win regardless of where they lie on the liberal political spectrum. He is building a following that he wants to use as a king maker. Kentucky is still to conservative for him to be competitive. Jones will run for state wide office at some point in time but he is waiting for s sure thing. McConnell is unpopular but he runs a ruthless and efficient campaign. President Trump is wildly popular here and in a presidential election year Conservatives will pour into the polls. He would crush Jones and they both know it.
