Say what you want about Cruise, but the man has made some phenomenal movies.
That's my impression too. I may not agree with his or even many other Hollyweirdo's politics or funky religion's but I do still appreciate a good movie.
Cruise has aged exceptionally well compared to many; including me. I look forward to seeing this movie. I think of it as the 'other' bookend to match the first one.
I wasn’t expecting my first reply at FR to be about Tom Cruise, but here we are.
Compared to other Hollywood personalities, Tom Cruise is one of the few that has not become a complete SJW sellout. I understand the Scientology thing REALLY bothers people, and I think that’s where most of the hatred for him stems from, embodied almost solely from that now infamous Oprah couch episode.
He’s actually one of a minuscule actors that I have some modicum of respect for, not on a personal level, but as someone who has shown great dedication to his craft. It’s amazing actually, he’s kept in great shape, and continues to act/produce phenomenally entertaining films. Even Clint Eastwood said he’s the greatest living actor.
And he does this without leaving a disgusting twitter/facebook footprint insulting his fanbase every other day. I admire his professionalism and his ability to not get suckered into that grotesque aspect of modern Hollywood. He could be a serious d-bag face to face, I have no idea, but he is a very good actor and he never called me racist on twitter.
No doubt, and if I restricted by concert attendance to non-libs I would get out much. I do avoid the overtly political, like Pink Floyd. I will see Santana again this year and his usual preaching from the stage. At least he usually keeps in to one short comment.
