We’re doling out billions every year for social programs in the Middle East countries we’re occupying - Afghanistan and Iraq - but I never see Freepers complaining. It’s only social programs for low-income Americans, here at home, that Freepers want cut.

That wasn’t the message that got Trump elected, and I’m not sure it will get him re-elected. A big part of his winning coalition are financially struggling people in the upper Midwest. With the offshoring of manufacturing under Clinton, Bush and Obama, a lot of them may still need food stamps.

One big scam is for Muslims to go on assistance and they send any excess money to their home countries to fund terrorism.

Geez, dogface, you’ve been around here, like forever. Aren’t you paying attention?

Really?

Maybe you haven't been paying attention. I'll complain to anybody who will listen about spending my hard earned money on useless eaters all across the globe.

I owe nothing to foreign people, and I'm embarrassed for my own country's layabouts.

I complain about both, thank you very much.

Agreed. This isn’t that expensive a program. I in general also do not like discouraging savings, which is what these changes do. I’d rather put limitations such as no more than $ xxxx money consecutively and a lifetime cap.

Oh please spare us. The snap program does at food to illegals and food to many who have been frauds.

I know a lady who works and she is over 60. She makes very little and struggles to pay her bills. She needed SNAP. She was doled out 15 bucks a month. Ticks me off when I see illegals loading up the grocery cart.

We have a mix of folks here. Some have a stronger foreign policy folks, others might be more religiously or socially conservative, and yet others might be more focused on economic Conservatism. Some (in any crowd) however, will be butt-holes about things. Even good people have their bad moments.

A significant consideration about this change, is that it does not lower the financial thresholds for really needy people - it eliminates a commonly exploited loophole, that allows wealthier people from automatically receiving benefits, that they would not qualify for, under the actual thresholds for financial need.

Using this loophole, there have literally been people living in multi-million dollar homes, with fancy cars and even yachts that they owned outright, receiving EBT cards.
