My wife and I had a similar issue for the first eight months of our marriage. We were going at it two, three and even four times a day, so lack of trying wasn't an issue.

We saw a specialist and it turned out to be a weird little curve at the end of the vaginal canal, easily solved by slight change in position.

She was pregnant a month later and for 27 of the next 44 months (61% of the time). Everyone is different, but sometimes it is the simplest of things.

I'm not sure what the CDC is doing reporting on this. Pregnancy is a natural (and temporary) condition; it is not a disease.
