There is little if any evidence that Legan was acting as a Jihadist. The book he recommended was written by a late 19th-century - early 20th-century Nietzschean Social Darwinist who worshiped the "strong man," had anarchist sympathies, and despised Judaism and Christianity, which he thought were religions for the weak.

The shooter was just another hateful, lost young man who grabbed onto radical ideas wherever he could find. He did not have a coherent worldview other than hate and resentment.

I haven’t looked him up at all, but if he hates Christians and Jews, that pretty much nails it. Well plus he murdered 8 people.

He is an Islamist terrorist.

Hate and resentment taught through his family, and its relationship with Islam. It was his own kind of Jihad. There is no other name for it. Thankfully he’s dead. On with the next “lone wolf” who attacks in the name of Islam.

I agree with you completely. The “Islamic imagery” trope is BS. He was just a mega a-hole,
From what I can see

A lot of those kind of names can be Christian or even Parsi. Caution is due.

Based on the evidence as presented so far, I agree.

- No mention of Islam, Muslim faith, Mohammad, Jihad, etc;
- Just one picture of his (?)great-grandfather;
- Talks briefly about a book that pushes social darwinism;
- posts negative crap about mixed race people AND white people;
- posts negative crap about too much development;

He was just a scummy hater. Too bad he killed some good people, and forced a cop to kill him, before he left his mortal coil.

His grandfather, whom he looked up to, was a radical Iranian Islamicist but nothing to see there according to you.

Someone spends too much time hanging around the Lenin monument there in Seattle.

Well, that would also be good cover if he were a Jihadist. One shouldn’t underestimate one’s enemy.

Interesting that the book is anti-Semitic, and doesn’t condemn Islam...

Bzzzzt! Wrong. The book was a red flag waving literary manual that glorified the “strong man” socialist state. These red flag peckerheads invaded the US as immigrants from Eastern Europe en masse between 1890 and 1920.

I agree. Freepers can get pretty stupid on these types of events, finding Islamic terrorism under every bush.

The only "Islamic imagery" at the source article that I saw was a photo of his grandfather in traditional Persian attire.

When Muslims commit acts of violence in the name of Jihad, they shout their motives from the rooftops for all to hear. There is no need to read tea leaves to divine what happened.

You are probably right. But as it's still early on, you probably should have stuck a "probably" somewhere in there.

Nietzsche didn't "worship" the super man or "uber mensch". His works were bastardized by his sister who was a Nazi.

When he said, "God is dead! God remains dead! And we have killed him! How can we console ourselves, the murderers of all murderers! The holiest and the mightiest thing the world has ever possessed has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood from us?"

It was a warning that the enlightenment and the intellectuals that have slowly bled Christianity or any religion have now unleashed the rise of the Uber Mensch... the Super Man. There is NO GOD .... and now there is NO RULES other than those to make you "the Man".. the greatest "you" or "man" there is.

He literally predicted the rise of Fascism, Communism and all the nationalists "isms" that the strong man with no qualms about killing will rise and can make people follow.

His philosophy wasn't for the "masses of sheep" but for only those that are seeking to live fully. Trying to decide if you're a camel, a lion or a baby...

I didn't read what book this idiot quoted but I'm thinking "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" was the book you're thinking.
