Dayton shooter Connor Betts was in a ‘pornogrind’ metal band: report

Dayton mass shooter Connor Betts was reportedly the lead singer of a misogynistic “pornogrind” metal band called Menstrual Munchies — which released songs about rape, murder, necrophilia and other gruesome acts against women.

“I feel s–tty having let him be in the band, doing those lyrics,” said bandmate Jesse Creekbaum in an interview with VICE News. “It’s like, Jesus Christ, how much of this was like real life for him?”

Betts, 24, slaughtered nine people on Sunday — including his own sister — with an AR-style rifle before being killed by police. He also managed to wound 27.

“I know, like, whereas I saw it as a joke — like, ‘Let’s play this and we’ll shock some people,’ and then the people that we know laugh — he didn’t see it as a joke,” Creekbaum said. “He was like, ‘F–k, yeah. We’re gonna do this.’”

Imagine that!

Creekbaum says he feels conflicted: On the one hand, he believes music and art do not cause people to commit murder, but on the other hand, he feels guilty for having associated with someone who carried out violence similar to the kind he portrayed in his songs.

Creekbaum said he contacted the Dayton police immediately after hearing the news, but said they hadn’t replied to him, although he said the FBI visited his home on Monday to interview him.

It might be more helpful to our nation for the Democrats who want to curtail the 2nd Amendment rights of millions of law abiding Americans to first curtail the 1st Amendment rights of a few hundred thousand Americans who participate in really twisted, perverse communities that promote and disseminate horrible, violent ideas.

We've got a full set of Democratic presidential candidates ready to blame normal political policy discussions for causing violence, but none of them have stood up to suggest that we stamp out really twisted violent ideas circulating in small online communities whose members are known to commit mass shootings at this point.

So lets all ask the Democratic candidates what they think about censoring pornogrind and the rantings of Antifa loving incels.

And then lets ask them what they think of violent video games where killing is winning.

No, it’s not. It’s a very small subgenre that I, as a huge metal head, did not know existed until now. I’m familiar with the existence of such things from anti-communist metal and symphonic metal, but this is a new one.

Much like what happens to gamers, I urge people not to judge. The vast majority of people performing this stuff aren’t serious believers, because if they were we’d have a lot more violence nationwide. It’s all supposed to be for shock value, which I have to say I’m not generally a fan of. AC/DC did some stuff back in the day for gasps, but now greater extremes are needed in order to achieve the same degree of disgust.

Not much of a surprise that even his bandmates thought something was off about him.

As you get used to me here you’ll find I am judgmental but harmless. You asked me not to judge as you are a huge metal head. I will try not to be sanctimonious and stuffy.

In my long ago Boomer youth we believed nothing was worth listening to unless Ed Sullivan banned it. I was an early fan of the Velvet Underground, about whom someone wrote “I cannot imagine the kind of person who listens to their 2nd album all the way through.” I listened to it at least once a night for weeks.

Later became a writer for Creem Magazine and a rock reviewer. So I shouldn’t talk about pining away for decent, pure, family oriented music.

The fact this idiot killed his own sister says volumes. Is the Left-wing media (abc cbs cnn nbc et al) still whining that this moron is a conservative?

Manson said he was a Sinatra fan.

He said that the Beatles were the music of “your children” (collective)

And Beach Boys. He co-opted Dennis Wilson’s house, and Dennis left. They reputedly co-wrote a song, before Dennis, not one to flinch from a fight, decided the man was scary, and fled.

Dennis rewrote “Cease to Exist” as “Never Learn Not to Love” and published it on the album, 20/20. Manson told him/them to remove his name from credit, because he/they changed the title and lyric.

Neil Young wrote a song about wayward Manson and it bothered David Crosby that he wrote it.

Typical “white supremacist,” he was. It’s understandable that our political leaders want young men like him to be able to disarm their neighbors before burning, raping and pillaging them. So much more fun than swatting!

[Heap of irony and sarcasm there.]

Maybe. Just maybe. We don’t make art showing violence as super cool? (Even if we say it’s “anti.”)

Here is an example: me.

The first time I heard “Pumped Up Kicks” I was absolutely horrified. That a pretty hook would be about a boy happily shooting up his school. Now when I hear the song the lyrics don’t get to me any more and I (sorry to say) enjoy the tune.

Maybe that is not the way to go.

Grandma Rose loved Pornogrind.

She used to play it while she cooked.

Right? My one grandma sang along to porno metal, the other one was into gangsta rap. Good times. Brings me back.

Me no judge. One of my sons is into metal. He is as peace loving as someone can be, very considerate and a good kid. I can’t actually enjoy the screaming stuff but my favorite rock band is Coheed and Cambria so I do like real rock. I just prefer the more commercial songs of hard rock bands because I am a lightweight.

FYI:

THIS article describes the kind of stuff we were talking about on the other thread (Dayton gunman Betts described himself as a pro-Satan ‘leftist’ who despised Donald Trump).

The past couple of generations are "damaged goods".

I know who are the ones who created and profited from the damage to these generations, but the words MUST NOT be said.

The truth hurts some "sensibilities".

I guess I'll just leave it at: the movie industry, the music industry, the education industry, the psychiatric industry. (The MSM can be added to this list.)

Whose hands generally control those industries?
